Check Permitted Working Hours in Advance When Hiring Foreign Part-Timers
When foreigners work part-time, their permitted working hours are set according to the visa they hold.
As an employer, you should check the permitted working hours for each visa
and sign the employment contract considering the working hours your company or store needs.

For business owners, having to check this in advance may feel inconvenient,
but there is no need to worry too much.
Part-time applicants are well aware of the permitted working hours of their own visa,
so they take those hours into account when applying.
When posting a job ad, simply state the weekday and weekend working hours clearly on a weekly basis,
and it will be easier to find part-timers who are eligible to work.

Note that students with a D2 (study abroad) or D4 (language training) visa must, in order to work part-time,
obtain permission from the training institute, language school, or university they attend,
and then must report it to the immigration office,
submitting the employment contract at that time.
If the working hours in the employment contract exceed the range permitted by the visa,
approval will not be granted and the student cannot work legally.
If permission is denied after the employment contract has already been signed, it can cause problems,
so be sure to double-check before signing, and if the hours exceed the permitted range, look for another applicant.
* Some visas such as H-1 (Working Holiday) and F (overseas Korean, immigrant, etc.) allow part-time work
freely without prior permission.
If you need a worker for 30 hours a week, you cannot hire a foreign part-timer with a
D4 (language training) visa, whose maximum permitted time is 24 hours or less per week.
In this case, you can hire two D4 visa part-timers and split the hours,
or hire a D2 (study abroad) visa holder who can work up to 35 hours.
Lastly, considering the time foreign part-timers need to obtain permission from the immigration office,
it is best to allow plenty of time for the hiring process, so please keep this in mind~
