Admission Application Form
Must be completed directly on the online application site.
The personal information provided (e.g., English name spelling, date of birth) must match the information on submitted documents.
Recommendation Letter from High School Teacher
Must be submitted via the online recommendation system only (cannot be sent via mail, email, or fax)
Each section must be written within 3,000 bytes (approximately 1,500 Korean characters or 600 English words).
If the applicant cannot submit certificates of enrollment, graduation, or transcripts, the recommending teacher may upload these documents via the recommendation system.
An email with instructions for completing the recommendation letter will be sent to the recommender after the application fee is paid.
Once submitted, the recommender’s details (name and email) cannot be changed.
· The status of the recommendation submission can be checked on the online application site (no phone or email inquiries).
Personal information such as the applicant’s name, parents’ or relatives’ names, and workplaces must not be included.
Proof of Language Proficiency
Submit one or more of the following documents to prove proficiency in Korean or English
Official Korean or English language test scores.
Standardized test results with Korean or English scores.
Official documents or school profile proving that all classes were conducted in Korean or English (only if the entire high school curriculum was completed in Korean or English).
Official Language Test Score Standards
Korean: TOPIK Level 3 or higher, or completion of Level 4 or higher at a university language institute in Korea.
English:TOEFL iBT 80+ (MyBest Scores and iBT Home Edition accepted; TOEFL ITP not accepted). IELTS Academic Band Score 6.0+ (IELTS Online accepted; IELTS Indicator not accepted). TEPS 269+.
Submit scanned copies or screenshots of official test score reports for preliminary admission. Original score reports or official score reporting will be required after acceptance.
TOEFL/IELTS Score Reporting Code for SNU: 7972.
The arrival status of score reports must be checked with the respective testing organization. The admissions office cannot confirm this via phone or email.
High School Certificate of Enrollment
Must clearly state the period of enrollment (start/end dates) and academic year/semester.
If a certificate cannot be issued due to school policies, a transcript or an official school document specifying the enrollment period may be submitted as a substitute.
Documents for early graduation or grade skipping require an explanation and supporting evidence.
High School Transcripts for All Academic Years
Submit transcripts for all academic years completed by the time of application.
For example, if the second semester of the 3rd year is incomplete, submit grades up to the first semester.
Even if A-Level or IB final scores are submitted, transcripts for all high school years are still required.
High School Diploma (or Certificate of Expected Graduation)
Highlight the graduation (or expected graduation) date with a marker before submission.
If the document cannot be issued due to school policies, a certificate of enrollment, transcript, or other official school documents specifying the graduation date may be submitted instead.
For Chinese High School Graduates: Submit the original diploma and a Verification Report of China Secondary Education Qualification Certificate issued by CHSI (学信网).
Proof of Applicant and Parents’ Nationality
A copy of a valid passport is required. If unavailable, submit a certified copy of a nationality certificate or an official ID card. Documents without notarization, such as simple ID copies or driver’s licenses, are not accepted.
For Chinese Nationals: Only passports or notarized nationality certificates issued after January 1, 2023, are accepted (hukou and ID cards are not valid).
Proof of Relationship Between Applicant and Parents
Submit documents clearly showing the names of both the applicant and their parents, such as birth certificates, family relationship certificates, or citizenship certificates.
For Chinese Nationals: Submit a notarized relationship certificate issued after January 1, 2023.
In cases of single-parent families, divorce, or the death of a parent, submit supporting documents.
Optional Documents
Standardized test results.
High school profile or introduction materials.
Additional language proficiency certificates.
Any other materials relevant to the application
