  Extension Period

  • In general, the period of stay can be extended on a yearly basis.

    • * Cases that meet the conditions in the table below are eligible for a 6-month extension.

    Proof of Financial Support for Stay

      Bank Balance Certificate showing an amount equal to the annual housing cost for a single-person household multiplied by the number of months of stay.

      For D-10-1 applicants who are Korean university graduates with high Korean language proficiency and D-10-2 applicants who participated in the K-Startup Grand Challenge, submit documents proving the respective qualifications instead.

      For Advanced Technology Interns (D-10-3): If receiving a salary for internship activities, salary payment records can replace the bank balance certificate.

    Proof of Residence:

    Lease agreement, accommodation confirmation letter, expiration notice of stay period, utility bill receipts, dormitory fee receipts, etc.

    Additional Documents by Qualification Type

      D-10-1 Point-Based Applicants: Supporting documents for point-based evaluation (e.g., employment certificates, KIIP completion certificates).

      D-10-3 Advanced Technology Interns:

      • Certificate of employment as an intern.
      • Business registration certificate, research facility and personnel details, employment insurance subscriber list.
      • Documents proving the inviting company maintains its qualification as an advanced technology intern employer.

    Conduct Job-Seeking Activities in Advance:

    Immigration may not recognize job-seeking activities conducted frequently right before the visa expiration.

  • 2)

    Age in Point System:Age is calculated based on full (international) age.

  • 3)

    If urgent points are needed, applicants can take the KIIP exam (results available within 2 days).
