D-10 Visa
Eligibility Requirements
General Job-Seeking (D-10-1) – Subject to Point-Based System
Legal residents in Korea holding a bachelor’s degree (or associate degree from a Korean university) or higher.
Individuals scoring at least 60 points out of 190 on the job-seeking point-based evaluation system (basic items: 20 points).(View detailed scoring criteria)
General Job-Seeking (D-10-1) – Exemptions from Point-Based System
Individuals who obtained an associate degree or higher from a Korean university within the past 3 years and meet one of the following requirements:
Hold a valid TOPIK Level 4 or higher score.
Passed the KIIP Level 4 mid-term exam or were placed at Level 5 based on the pre-assessment (81 points or higher).
※ (If more than 3 years have passed since obtaining the degree, the point-based system applies. Applications can also be submitted from abroad.)
Individuals with work experience in professional fields
Those with E-1 to E-7 visas whose employment contract has expired or whose employment activities ended for valid reasons and who are unable to find new employment within 15 days.
Startup Preparation (D-10-2)
Holders of an associate degree from a Korean university or a bachelor’s degree from a foreign university who meet one of the following criteria
- Person or entity holding or applying for a patent, utility model, or design right in the Republic of Korea.
- Completed or are currently participating in at least one program under the Startup Immigration Support System (OASIS)
(excludes individuals whose completion date exceeds 3 years).
- Participants in the K-Startup Grand Challenge sponsored by the Korean Ministry of SMEs and Startups, with a recommendation from the National IT Industry Promotion Agency .
- Holders of intellectual property rights from OECD member countries.
Advanced Technology Internship (D-10-3)
Bachelor’s graduates under 30 years old. Master’s graduates under 35 years old.
Must have an internship contract with one of the following eligible Korean companies:
Publicly listed companies with research facilities in advanced technology fields.
Corporate research centers or R&D departments established under the Basic Research Promotion Act.
Companies designated as advanced technology enterprises under the Special Act on the Promotion of Research and Development Zones.
Venture companies recognized by the Korean Ministry of SMEs and Startups under the Venture Business Act.
National or public research institutions, specific research organizations, and government-funded science and technology research institutes.
Restricted Applicants
Common Restrictions
Individuals who violated Korean law within the specified timeframes
Sentenced to imprisonment or higher penalties within the past 5 years.
Deported or ordered to leave Korea under the Immigration Act within the past 5 years.
Fined 300,000 KRW or more for violating Korean law within the past 3 years.
Penalized for violating the Immigration Act and restricted from extending stay within the past 3 years.
Individuals who have already stayed for more than 6 months on a job-seeking visa within the past 1 year.
Individuals who have applied for a D-10 visa 3 times within the past 3 years without leaving Korea completely.
Additional Restrictions by Category
Startup Preparation (D-10-2)
- Applications made more than 3 years after completing an OASIS program.
Advanced Technology Internship (D-10-3)
Internships with companies that are not authorized to hire foreign workers.
Companies that do not meet the requirements for advanced technology fields.
Companies where foreign workers exceed 20% of the total Korean employees.
Important Notes for Visa Issuance
Clearly explain your job-seeking or employment plans to the immigration office.
Immigration authorities will review your bank transactions to determine if you have engaged in unauthorized activities (e.g., unapproved work or part-time jobs).
(TOPIK Level 4 holders are exempt from submitting bank transaction statements.)
Ensure you have sufficient funds to cover at least one month of living expenses.
Report any changes in your status immediately to the immigration office.
