Vessel owners employing foreign seafarers must comply with the following requirements. Where necessary, they may enter into a vessel management contract with a management agency to delegate related responsibilities.

  Pay wages that meet or exceed the minimum standards set by the Seafarers Act.

  
• 2)

  Fulfill legal obligations related to safety, health, and compensation in the event of industrial accidents or other incidents.

  
• 3)

  Provide support for the foreign seafarers’ living habits, dietary needs, and religious activities.

  
• 4)

  Report changes in employment status (new hires, replacements, terminations, or transfers) to the relevant immigration office in cases of new employment, changes in workplace, or departure (boarding, disembarking, or leaving the country).

  
• 5)

  Comply with management guidelines, immigration and labor laws, and other related regulations.

  
• 6)

  Perform other tasks deemed necessary by the Korea National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives concerning foreign seafarer management.

  

Depositing a management guarantee of 1 million KRW per foreign seafarer (up to a maximum of 3 million KRW per vessel) with the associated cooperative, or Enrolling in a wage guarantee insurance or a similar program.

Vessel owners must pay a monthly management fee per foreign seafarer as guided by the Korea National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives under the terms of the vessel management contract with the management agency.
